Greece registered 203 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Sunday August 9, 2020, with 29 of the new cases confirmed during checks at the country’s air and land entry points. Of the new cases, 38 were identified in the Attica region and 35 in the Thessaloniki region. The new cases total includes the newly detected 50 Covid-19-positive employees of a plant in Chalkidiki, reported today.
The number of all cases totals 5,623 (54.8% men), of which 1,438 are connected to travel abroad and 2,705 to already known cases, the National Public Health Organization said.
22 individuals are intubated in hospitals, of whom five are women. Their median age is 63 years, while a 59 pct has an underlying health condition or are aged 70 or over; 129 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the outbreak in Greece in January 2020.
With one new death today, fatalities from Covid-19 in Greece have now reached 212. The median age of the deceased was 76 years, and most had underlying issues.
